Therapy
I am a marriage and family therapist, and a candidate for licensure in Colorado (MFTC.0014645). I have been actively practicing since 2022 and completed my master's degree in Human Development & Family Studies, with a specialization in Marriage & Family Therapy, in 2024. I primarily work with adolescents and adults through individual, couple, or family therapy.
Clinically, I specialize in:
- Therapy for couples and families navigating potential divorce or separation (i.e., Discernment Counseling).
- Therapy for people in high-stress careers (e.g., first responders, healthcare workers, and more) and their families.
- Therapy to support people in rural, agricultural, or farming families.
- Therapy to support life transitions (e.g., transitions to college, career, parenting, co-parenting).
Research
I came to the field of marriage and family therapy after serving as a psychology research assistant and finding my passion and genuine interest in this field. My research training and career have focused on work that seeks to understand and support healthy family dynamics. Alongside collaborators and skilled mentors, I have:
- Conducted research exploring the link between family functioning and physical health of children and adults.
- Published articles about mental health topics, like how mental health symptoms are linked to their own treatment in a mindfulness-based intervention.
- Analyzed how romantic relationship factors may impact biological aging.
- Written grants to support investigation of the interplay between work/education stress and romantic relationship development in emerging adults.
- Examined patterns of trauma exposure and mental health impacts experienced by children in the juvenile justice and child welfare/foster systems.
I expect to complete a PhD in Applied Developmental Science in 2026, which will allow me to continue this work long-term.
Teaching
One of my favorite things to do is teach university undergraduate and graduate students who are seeking careers in helping professions like therapy, healthcare, and education. I have taught classes on topics like:
- Lifespan human development
- Family therapy theory
- Marriage & family therapy practice
- Research methods
